I found this beauty at the Sunday market. She's a limited addition print by artist Antonio Munatone - 1977 - edition 10 of 12.
I've haven't been able to find anything on the artist - but the subject and I, well, we kinda feel like we know each other.
It's a wonderful thing - when you find a piece of art work that you know will always be with you -
they feel like home and validation and relief -
they are like a new friend that you have known for a long long time.
Do you have any particular pieces that you feel especially strongly about - hanging on your walls? Is there one special one that you daydream into on the days that you are feeling a little crappy - a little displaced - that helps you to revive?
Weekending :: the habit of being
That painting is gorgeous! I love feeling that special connection with paintings. You are very lucky you were able to bring this beauty home. :)
ReplyDeleteI got a print of Edward Hopper's Room in New York for Christmas and I can't wait to hang it on the wall since he's my favourite artist and his paintings inspire me to write stories. But we haven't got a frame yet...
What a beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteI will keep looking for my special painting...

That's a lovely print - it's great to find something that touches you so deeply
ReplyDeletethey really look great!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely! What a great find.
ReplyDeleteI have a painting from my late Uncle - who was a very talented artist. If there was ever a fire in our building - it would be the one thing (besides our cat) that I would take with me.
hope you are well,
e
This artwork looks cool! In fact, the combination of the fireplace and both pieces is great!
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful. She has such a lovely look on her face - I feel like I could spend hours trying to divine the cause of it. Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to choose a favourite amongst my pieces... one of them is special as we bought it for ourselves as an engagement present - it's whimsical, pretty and I never get sick of looking at it. In another, I discover something new each time I sit in front of it so it's always interesting.
Thank you for visiting me. I have to admit the only thing I don't miss about Melbourne is the weather!
Wow! What a find! I have a lot of my own paintings and my daughter's on the walls. Seeing her work always brings me a smile...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great new friend:) The piece I am most excited about at home are Ai Weiwei photos from the building of the Bejing Airport. I will never tire of looking at them!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Wow what a lovely painting. It's amazing what appears in our lives, sometimes when we least expect but when need it the most. I found an red elephant painting several years ago in a sidewalk art sale. I met the artist but never got her name, and I can't read it on the painting either. Maybe I'll post it this week :). I am hoping that these kinds of things will fall into my lap more often :).

What a find! Woodcut? I love everything that I have on my walls right now. When I was little, my mom had several dreamy landscapes and I used to look at them for hours imagining the fairies that lived within them...
ReplyDeleteYep - i think it's woodcut, Nice to hear you're surrounded by things you love! Thanks for visiting.
Deletewhat a gorgeous find! is it a painting or a woodcut print?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a woodcut print - the grain is very present and beautiful!
Deletethis is really good work!
ReplyDeletei have a thing with collecting art from thrift shores or charity shops.
i do have a few by now, bought at very low prices. they don`t worth much anyway but i love them.
some of them are hunging on my walls : )
My uncle is an artist so I have several original paintings that he has made for me that are just fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLucky You! What a great find - and she really does have a mysterious, curious look about her. It adds to the drama that there's not much info on the artist... Thanks for sharing your Sunday Market art!
ReplyDeleteThat was a really nice find. I want to have actual art on my walls (and feel like a real adult), but I haven't gotten there yet. Some day.
